After the reconstruction in the city of Dzerzhinsk on September 23, 2020, the Shukhov Tower on the Oka was solemnly opened - one of the most popular attractions of the Nizhny Novgorod region. A monument of the Russian architectural avant-garde - it is recommended for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Shukhov Tower on the Oka was built a few years later than a similar one in Moscow - on Shabolovka. The tower was designed by engineer Vladimir Shukhov in the form of a mesh shell. Its height is 128 meters. In the spring of 2005, 16 pillars were stolen by vandals - as a result, it lost a third of its foundation. But it even withstood flooding during floods. In 2007, they began conservation and then restoration of the Shukhov Tower. This year, all work has been completed. The reconstruction of the highest landmark of Dzerzhinsk was carried out in several stages. First, on the 128-meter structure, the lost elements from the base of the tower were restored, then the coastline of the Oka was fortified and the promenade was laid. At the final stage of the work, anti-corrosion treatment of the metal and mounted a multicolor illumination of the tower with a volume of about 23 thousand LEDs, which operate in different dynamic modes, were carried out. Also, near the Shukhov tower, the nearby territory was landscaped. Now the landscaped embankment and the Shukhovskaya tower towering above it will become a new tourist attraction in the region. The opening of the restored Shukhov Tower was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of GOELRO (State Commission for the Electrification of Russia). The restoration of the tower supports, as well as the improvement of the territory, was carried out by the Rosseti Center and Volga Region company. The great-grandson of the engineer, Vladimir Shukhov, specially came to the opening ceremony of the restored Shukhov Tower. The creative association ARR Group developed the emblem of the Shukhov Tower, prepared the site of the event, completely organized and conducted this event with the subsequent editing of a video about the ceremony.
